I noticed your tone change with a sober mind
my trembling heart attuned to your pulsation
unmasking the risks of being kind
trying to tuck away every frustration

The anthems of youth muted by the cold
low voices whispering vapid pleasantries
as growing up felt like growing old
and souls became harder to please

I am clearing new pages for the ink of despair
to reckon with the somber parts of my embrace
my words will risk their freedom in your snare
unsure about your will to keep them safe

For beauty that blinds alluring butterflies
prays for wind enslaved by private skies
